Saskatoon, SK. As of August 1, Athabasca Basin Development (ABD) has acquired 100% of DSG Power Systems, a leading diesel equipment performance and enhancement service provider based in Saskatoon whose products feature generator systems and 4+, a fuel additive that improves engine performance.

“DSG is a great fit for us,” says Geoff Gay, CEO of ABD. “DSG Power Systems is a premier provider of diesel engine solutions, supporting key sectors such as mining, agriculture, construction, and trucking. We were impressed by the strength of their team, their financial performance and with their forty years of experience ensuring optimal performance and efficiency for heavy-duty equipment and vehicles. We are excited to work with management to continue to grow this excellent Saskatchewan company.”

Athabasca Basin Development is an Indigenous owned investment company. In operation since 2002, ABD has grown to have ownership in 16 companies in a variety of industries, including construction, electrical, aviation, a Pepsi franchise, IT, banking, retail and more.

QUOTE FROM DSG – please provide your own quote or make any changes you’d like to this draft quote provided: “When I started thinking about retirement, I wanted to make sure the company our team spent so much effort building would always be in good hands, and especially that my people were taken care of,” says Percy Hoff, CEO and former owner of DSG. “I liked that Athabasca Basin Development was experienced at buying companies from owners like me who were looking to retire and transitioning them successfully. They are a solid investment company, and they are highly experienced at growing companies that have their own teams in place to run the business. I also really like all the ways they give back to the community. I am confident that this new ownership will strengthen the company and ensure its legacy continues, and I’m thrilled that DSG will provide benefits to Indigenous communities in its next chapter.”

DSG employs 25 people and operates out of a 31,000 square foot facility in Saskatoon. “Percy has agreed to stay on and continue to operate the business as usual. We will eventually transition to a new CEO so that Percy can enjoy retirement,” says Geoff. “The focus for all of us is taking care of employees, and customers and continuing the spirit and legacy that has been established that grew the company to where it is today.” DSG Power Systems is more than just a diesel shop—we’re your partner in overcoming challenges and optimizing performance. From farm productivity to heavy-duty equipment, our commitment to excellence shines through in every service. Ready to enhance your diesel equipment’s performance?
